The Timeless Gift

I prepared you dishes chefs would have proudly claimed.
I carefully selected my words so your pain I would not inflame.
I bestowed gifts to you like a beloved child on their Birthday.
I gave you my time as if I held in my hands all of my days.
But when the truth stared me in the face,
Everything else fell to the floor in it's place.
None of these things you ever required.
It was my love that you utmost desired.
