Counting the Yellow Flowers

It was a gloomy day that my loving little brother and I were traveling home driving down a familiar road. By the long quiet drive, I was reminded of a game from my distant childhood that my father made up to entertain us restless children on seemingly never ending road trips. The game consisted of hollering bird every time you spotted a bird and the person who found the most birds won. This must have driven my mother crazy with all of her children including my father simultaneously yelling bird -- probably about the same bird. I reminded my little brother about the humorous bird game. Driving past the sea of wildflowers, in fun, I suggested we play the "yellow flower game". "1,278 yellow flowers," said my brother jokingly. "That number plus one. I win." I replied in a laugh. Later in the weary ride, I admitted how tired I had become. Since my brother was driving he suggested I rest. "But who will count all of the birds and yellow flowers, " I exclaimed. "God will." replied my brother in his wisdom and matter of fact tone. I realized, oh your right, He will. I have been taking on so many things that are crushing my mind and emotions that God never intended for me to be burdened with. I make for a very poor god. I will hand the worries of this world over to the one who created it. Which is not me. It's Him who created the birds, the yellow flowers, and you and me.
